(Rod turns on
Turd Avenue. The hustle and bustle of Shady Lane is soon transformed into
an eerie stillness. Except for a couple of homeless strays, the street is
deserted. It's a dark night and the only illumination comes from the occasional
working street lamps that dot the street.)
ROD:
The glamorous Collywood image sure doesn't fit this part of town. Seeing
all these abandoned warehouses is depressing. It sure was a bustling street
back when I was a pup.(As Rod walks past the squalor, his thoughts flash back to an earlier time.) |

Weiler Sr. sits on a park bench with his young son. Rod Sr. has a cast on
his leg and a bandage around his head. A cane leans against the bench.) ROD Sr: Now Rod, I want you to know that things are going to be a little different. I'm no longer working for Collywood PD. ROD Jr:
But paw, you're the best police dog on the whole force. ROD Sr: Maybe so son, but this injury I got during a car chase has really slowed me down, so I've been retired. ROD Jr: What will you do? ROD Sr:
I've made a lot of friends over the years and one of them has asked me
to head up security at the Mastiff Woofing Company. His name is Bull Mastiff
and he has a big contracting business down on Turd Avenue. |

ROD: Next to my father, Bull Mastiff was the man I most admired. Bull was a legend down on Turd Avenue. His size, alone, was intimidating, but add to that a menacing snarl and neither man nor beast would dare cross him. But I loved the guy and I'll always remember our game of throw and fetch, which always ended up with a tumble on the ground and a scratch on the belly. |

(Flashback to Bull Mastiffs' construction company. Rod Sr. has just returned from his rounds with Rod Jr. following behind, yelping at his heels. Bull Mastiff meets them at the door.) BULL:
With the famous inspector and his fearless young assistant on the job, it's a lot safer place around here. ROD Jr: Was my paw really famous? BULL: Probably the most decorated law enforcement officer in the history of the Collywood Police Department. ROD
Jr:
Tell me that story about the Doperman gang. ROD
Sr:
(Laughing)
Not Doperman, the Doberman gang. You don't really want to hear that old
story again now do you?BULL:
Those Dobermans' were terrorizing the city for years, until your father got on their case. Single handedly, he made the pinch on the top dog in the Doberman gang. He was some ruff character, but your father put him and the rest of the gang in the state pen for the rest of their lives. ROD Jr:
That's
my paw. |
